Cliff-Top Walk !!!

So after Boules, we set off on (what turned out to be) a 2 hour walk down to the beach then up on the cliffs (bit lairy in parts – well for me not Dave !!!)

The photo below doesn’t give the feel of how close (weather-wise) and just how high it was – but hey regardez mon nouveau Breton t-shirt (normally I advocate that horizontal stripes make you larger – but I’m WAY past that now !!!)

Anyway I was in charge of “supplies” and taking 75cl of Muscadet and only 50cl of water was a mistake…

Got back to The Van, had a big drink of water (!)  and recovered and our little mate turned up again – Robin… xxx

It’s All a Load of Boules !!!

After we left the Pirate Festival, had a wander around the tat shops and Dave had happy memories of his childhood when he saw the “Spud Gun” (I’ve never seen one…)

Then we treated ourselves to a lovely set of 8 silver boule and came back and had a few games but Dave kept whooping me !!! Xxx

Mass & Bicnic !!!

So we trundled off on The Duke for a non-existent 10am Mass in Pordic then bibbed off to the next town (Bicnic) and arrived in time for the 10:30am Mass at Notre Dame de Bon Voyage – gorgeous church – piccie of the altar below.

Let Dave off attending this week (!) and he went for coffee & croissant  across the road then saw (and took piccies of):-

1. A Solex (which is a motorised bicycle that runs on fuel !l

2. A 41 foot boat called a Dehler – for Paulie…

Then I caught up with him after Mass and there was this wierd Pirate Festival going on – mostly for the kids but everyone was seriously dressed up and there were shows & stalls (selling Pirate gear) & livestock…

So here I am with a Pirate – and also next door – a piccie of a camel !!

Easy Lifter My @rse !!!

For those of you viewing the blog who haven’t seen it in the flesh – there is a contraption attached to the back of The Van called an “Easy Lifter” on which the little 200cc KTM motorcycle goes (“The Duke”).

It always creates interest with the male populous when we go anywhere as it ISN’T articulated (like a lorry) – it has wheels like a supermarket trolley that spin – so it it like an extension of The Van and is thus easier to reverse.

ANYWAY (TMI for the girls but stay with me…) we got back to The Van parked at the side of the road in Morlaix and Dave frowned as (because the parking spots were narrow) he had parked The Van wheels on the pavement but (as the Easy Lifter (which I will now refer to as the E-L) is narrower) the E-L wheels were on the road just about touching the kerb.

He announced that we should use FaceTime on our iPhones with me pointing my phone at the Easy Lifter wheels so he could see better – in addition to the camera on the back of The Van to reverse out of the spot.

Well I tried my best but the view on my phone (that Dave sees) is just a little tiny square in the bottom left or right (can’t remember which) – and I pointed it OK initially but then he started moving towards me (as he was reversing) and the next thing I knew – the wheels of the E-L spas’d and the whole thing tipped over and banged down on the pavement – with the bike  🏍  on it – so it was sticking its @rse in the air !!!

I had been yelling “STOP, STOP !!!” and banging the side of The Van – but it was too late…

Dave got out and he was NOT happy – he managed to lift it and get it sorted but was convinced something had broken and the whole thing would detach and kept stopping to check…

STRESS !!!

Unfortunately we don’t have a photo of it @rse-up but you can imagine…

And – to top it all off – got to the campsite ⛺️ and Dave decided we weren’t level so got the ramps out. Now we’ve used them lots before but he usually drives ONTO them (i.e. forwards) but (whilst I was in Reception sorting stuff) – he REVERSED onto them – and snapped off the waste pipe (the pipe you put over a designated hole in a campsite ⛺️ to empty the grey (waste) water).

Again  – NOT happy – even though he had a bottle of Cidre de Bretagne in the other hand !!! (See below) xxx

Stop-Off at Morlaix

So trundled off after St Julien and came to Morlaix – a bustling, pretty town with a market in the centre (shopping – yey !!!)

Dave parked up and we had a wander and then he spotted the bar that he had previously stopped at for coffee with Mick & Paul – back in May so I took a photo – and look – his t-shirt matches the furniture !!! Xxx

In Si Beau Pit-Stop !

So we packed up at the previous campsite ⛺️ on Saturday at midday then headed east to make our way over to where we are now – just outside a place called Bicnic !!!

We took the coast road for some of the journey and when we were ready for us dinner (up North you have breakfast, dinner and tea !!!) – we stopped in St Julien and it was idyllic – here we are after dinner having us cup of tea !!! Xxx

Sunset Outside The Van

So Dave did the tea (ham steaks marinated in chorizo, mustard, lemon juice & herbs.  buttered new potatoes, salad & bread).  Very nice but a bit heavy on the mustard (he used 3/4 of a jar !!!)

Then we watched the sun go down (Paulie & Mick – remember the lighthouse on this site – you can just about make it out here)…

And – like true Brits – as it got chilly, we layered up (with my new furry fleece I bought yesterday and a blanket…)

Dave was dead hard and wouldn’t accept a blanket – just his Swiss fleece – he said that passers-by would think (with me all wrapped up) that he was taking his mum on holiday !!!! Cheek !!! Xxx

My New Favourite Patron Saint

Lazy morning then trundled off on The Duke to see the delights of Northern Brittany.

Lots of pretty beaches (and not much else to be honest…).  Here we are sporting our new helmets that Dave bought to fit in the top box…

And a lovely viewing point…

And Saint -Cava – which Dave insisted we visit but was most disappointed at the lack of free cava when we got there 😂 Xxx

Us Tea !!!

So I said I’d make Spanish omelette for tea (Maria – you’d have been proud of me – there were lots of leftovers and we just bought bread, chorizo and beans (but they weren’t REAL beans – the dirty French B’s) )  – anyway it was DELICIOUS – piccie below…  Also look at the pretty red and white lights that he decorated the front of The Van with…

AND whilst I was chopping the peppers, onions, chorizo & cheese, I said to My Dave to put a romantic message on our NEW (smaller A5) light box that we bought on the ferry ⛴ here – look what he put – well at least it’s got an emoticon !!! Xxx

Same Bus Stop, Same Campsite…

We THEN arrived at the same campsite (not SO much of a surprise as Dave entered the postcode of the site as we left the OTHER campsite !!!) as they came to in May.

It’s cute, has a really nice feel and is RIGHT on the beach…

It was supposed to hoik it down all day today so bonus that it was just cloudy…

More soon xxx
