Day 2

We decided to head north to Arcachon instead of going to Lourdes.  En route usual coffee stops and wee breaks!

Arrived at the a chosen site “Le Coq Hardin”.  Mmmmm.

No beer on this table…

Sooty finally gets his tent up after twitting about.

Hardy biker and all pleased with himself after putting up his tent.  Which, I might add, is exactly the same as mine.  Copy cat.

The French know how to lay on a fish stall at the local Intermarche.  Unreal.  50 Euro later we had our food.  Still had to cook it but hey.

19 degrees today.  Yey.  We may stop another day.  Not sure yet.  Depends how much beer we drink I guess.  Seriously there’s lots to see round here so we are going to take a ride out tomorrow and then decide.  La’ers…

Arette – free of charge

First campsite.  Camping Arette apparently.  Tonights concoction is chicken with some slurp of some kind.  One big bowl of mushed up veg.  Great practice for when we have no teeth.

The campsite was full of mod cons.  Well, cons anyway.

Full swing.  This is a picture of professionals at work.  Live and learn people, live and learn.

This is Taylux after a boiling shower.  I didn’t tell him what he looked like!  Lobster face.

Sooty waxing lyrical about something or other.  Nobody was listening by this time anyway.

Packing up and time to leave.  I was first ’cause I was up early of course.

The owner was nowhere in sight.  Some builders told us he had gone into hospital.  So we left a note saying we had stayed a night and my phone number.  Eh?  Why mine?  Oh well.  Showers were crap anyway.

Packing has started!

This is Mick’s idea of packing for the Tricolore Tour.  Ho ho.

Tricolore Tour is so called because :

  1. We are going to France
  2. There are three of us

Bike cleaned, adventure bits now almost all fitted, new textile suit ordered. Passport, tickets, money.  Passport, tickets, money.  What time is it?  7 weeks to go.

The weather is clearing

We are approaching Graz here and we are getting dizzy with excitement.  Percy is even taking artistic pictures of fountains!

Crash!

Alice was hit from behind – small bump but the driver scarpered.

Here is a pic of the car from my rear facing camera…

car

Unfortunately a badly broken front brake leaver…

Although there is anger, stress and worry, Percy pulled out a spare lever from his bag!  Genius.  So her bike was fixed in 15 mins.  After a coffee, it was almost (and I mean almost) forgotten.

Off to Graz

Found the hotel and all good.  Except for Bill causing the fire alarm to go off because of excessive use of deodorant!  I’m serious.  He set off the sensor in his room and the fire dept turned up when the alarm was set off.  Unreal.

He puts on three layers of spray – Apparently he doesn’t like to risk sweating!

BIG waterfall

Ended up at Krimml and as the weather was alright, we headed up to the waterfall. Astounding.

The thing is, Alice said it was a steady walk to the top.  Nothing strenuous or anything.  When climbing up the path to tho top I kept looking round for Sherpa Tensing.  Then on the way back I needed crampons, not a pair of trainers!

But at least I got some exercise. 🙂

Mixed grill back in the hotel and a ‘few’ beers soon calmed my nerves.

Stupid Weather

Can’t believe it.  Just as we crossed the Austrian Alps, the skies opened up and dumped a load of wet stuff on us.  Couldn’t see any of the mountains hardly.  Grrrr.

Holed up in Innsbruck now and after a meal in a beerkeller and a crap nights sleep we are off to Krimini (?) tomorrow to see the waterfall.  Like that’s going to happen.  Weather is bad tomorrow too.

Still, all looks fine for the racing at the weekend.

Roll on Rossi!
